POLICY FOR LOOKING AFTER ANIMALS DURING COVID-19

As Copperhill Boarding Kennels and Cattery returns to work, with the gradual easing of restrictions, robust hygiene and social distancing protocols must be adopted when we receive or hand over a pet.

There remains no evidence that pets are implicated in the transmission of coronavirus to people, but there is some risk of the virus being carried on pets and their belongings.

The risk of human to human transmission remains, however, and social distancing measures throughout the handover process must be adopted to help prevent the spread of the disease.

We will increase our biosecurity by the increased use of disinfectants, hand gel and hand washing.

We will aim to reduce the probability of our staff becoming ill by restricting entrance to the kennels and cattery.

PROCEDURE FOR LOOKING AFTER ANIMALS DURING COVID-19

During the week prior to your pet boarding with us, we will contact you via email or phone to check that all details that we hold for your pet are up to date.  We will also check the health status of your household.

If a booster vaccination has been done since the last stay we will need to see the vaccination card.  This can be scanned and emailed to us, brought in with your pet and/or if this is not possible please let us know and we will be able to speak to your vets to obtain the current date.

All collections and drop offs will need to be by prior appointment to ensure that only one client is on the premises at any one time.

If entrance to the kennel or cattery area is required due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, please ensure that you are wearing a facemask to protect our staff and that you maintain social distancing at all times.

DOGS

  • Please ring the doorbell when you arrive. If nobody answers the bell, please call the staff on 01529 461103.  Please be patient at this time especially if there is already a car on the drive.

  • A member of staff will then come and check the paperwork with you, note any changes and sign on your behalf. You will be told the cost of your boarding and advised of ways to pay. They will then take your pet to their kennel.

  • This procedure will be reversed upon collection of your dog.

  • All dogs will be wiped down with a damp J cloth upon arrival and upon collection. All staff will wash their hands for 20 seconds using soap and water or use hand sanitizer before receiving or collecting your pet.

  • No soft bedding, coats or soft toys from home will be allowed into the kennel and cattery. Any food or medication must be in a container that can be wiped down with an alcoholic wipe.

  • All handovers will take place outside, as we do not have the space inside to maintain social distancing.
